closing of intimate topographies and slowness

Today marked the last day of the shows Intimate Topographies, Paulina Sierra's beautiful lace sculptures and Slowness, Emily Farranto's beautiful oil paintings. Viewers were consistently positive in their responses to the work which offered an enjoyable opportunity for those of us who were at the gallery showing it off. We're now gearing up for Petrichor, Erica Lambertson Philippe's large collection of oil paintings which opens on April 9. Usual gallery hours won't apply until that opening, but we'll be in and out. grissel giuliano work acquired by frederick weisman art foundation

Grissel Giuliano's photographic work Corn Bred has been acquired by the Frederick Weisman Art Foundation of Los Angeles http://www.weismanfoundation.org/. The work is part of Grissel's photoNOLA 2010 exhibit "FoodFight: http://www.coupdoeilartconsortium.com/artists/other_exhibiting_artists/grissel_giuliano/_001.html ".

I've just returned from NYC during Armory week, checking out all the art fairs, scouting for appropriate avenues to expose work. Valuable networking made it quite a productive trip. Also visited the New Museum to view Mental States, the exhibit of many of George Condo's enormous body of work. Particularly enjoyed his whimsical portraits evoking complex mental states. Condo aficionados: Blaine Capone's fantastical figurative works are a fresh banquet of pleasure.

Reception the same night as Krewe du Vieux parade. Turned out that alot of art aficionados decided to soak up the culture further upriver. The crowd was comfortable and engaged. No one could help connecting with the authenticity of Paulina's and Emily's profound artistic sensibilities.

Opening reception of Paulina Sierra's installation of lace sculptures and Emily Farranto's oil paintings on Saturday, February 19, 6-9pm. Have kept the exhibit under wraps till then in order to surprise Paulina's family who has arrived from Mexico. Paulina has dedicated her exhibit to Mema, her maternal grandmother. An extraordinarily beautiful show.
